Serving Others

“But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant…”
Mark 10:43 (NLT)

Jesus showed us that the peak of spiritual maturing is expressed through servanthood. Servanthood was the way in which Jesus’ taught us to grow our character and influence our world. The heart of servanthood is shown in 2 key areas:

Firstly, we serve God. At this point we should have a good understanding that our lives are to be lived for God and His glory. This is both in the private and public areas of our lives. We serve HIM in our day to day lives - in the seen and the unseen.

Secondly, we serve others. We follow the example of Jesus by serving others as He did. We help meet needs. We help others know Jesus. We live to give. We look to bring God’s Kingdom to earth - at home, at work and anywhere God would lead us.

Some starting points

  • Get involved in church. Serving the body of Christ and your church family is a great starting place! Church is a safe place to discover your gifts and contribute to the family of faith you belong to.

  • Live Mission Minded. The mission of Jesus will never be on your mind until it has taken hold of your heart. To live mission minded is to have an understanding that our lives are ON MISSION for God. This can be through giving and going.

  • Know Your Gifts. God has given all of us things that we are good at! Understand your gifts and strengths will help you find your calling and be effective for God. It will also help you understand how God has made you uniquely for His purposes.

  • The work of making disciples. Jesus commanded us to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:16-20). To take what you have learned and experienced and help others on their journey with God is an essential work of disciples of Jesus.

  • Have a coffee with Ps Simon or Maria. We’d love to chat about where God may be calling you to serve others!

Get eQuiPPED

“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”

We want to help equip you to do the unique work that God has for you!

Ephesians 4 shows us that God gives us gifts - and these gifts are given to each of us to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church (Ephesians 4:11-12)

This means that God has given each of us a special part to play in building up His Church in earth! As a member of Everyone Church - you have a special part to play!

We have a number of key service areas where you can get equipped.

These include:

  • Sunday Serving Teams: Whether it’s set up, pack up, worship, welcoming or any other areas - get involved with our set up team and help church run on a Sunday.

  • Connect Groups: Would you like to lead or co-lead a Connect Group?

  • EveryKID: Would you like be part of serving our kids ministry?

  • EveryYOUTH: We are still in the formative stages of our youth ministry and need youth leaders.

This is one area that we will constantly be working in! We all have areas where we need to grow.
